Mission   

Mission Statement: 

Our church's mission statement professes: "We are a fellowship called by God, aroused by Christ's love and empowered by the Spirit to transform lives by reaching out, sharing our gifts and inviting others to a dynamic life of faith."

 

We at Brick Presbyterian Church believe that mission is the life blood of our calling in Jesus Christ. As Jesus revealed God's great love and mercy by caring for the sick, infirmed, the homeless and people in need, so too, we are committed to revealing God's care through our mission efforts. Our congregation is very supportive of denominational efforts through our General Assembly, Synod and Presbytery to foster new church development, support overseas missionary work, and other expressions of Christ's love and compassion to those in all sorts of need.
 

Missionary

BPC sponsors missionary Mark Hare, a Presbyterian mission worker since 1997.  He is an agricultural technician (working with MPP - Farmers Movement of Papaye) training Haitian farmers to grow significant amounts of food on small plots of land using techniques to overcome the many obstacles in the area. Our local area Mission efforts support through volunteers and/or funding:

Caregivers Volunteers of Central Jersey an interfaith care provider for the frail and elderly;

Interfaith Hospitality Network of  Ocean County is a non-profit, interfaith ministry committed to providing shelter, meals and assistance to homeless families;

Northern Ocean Chapter of Habitat for Humanity building affordable homes;

New Eyes for the Needy is an effort we partner with recycling jewelry, eye glasses, hearing aids and the like to help provide seeing-eye dogs for those who are legally blind world-wide.

We Presbyterians are active in reaching out to aid those who have experienced major disasters nationally and worldwide. Thus, we support and partner with organizations that bring relief to victims of hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, earthquakes and the like, revealing God's great care and compassion.

 

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance sends people, funds and resources to disaster victims.

Church World Service is an Ecumenical Organization that provides God's care and relief to victims of famine, hunger, and refugees forced from their homes because of wars or natural disasters. In October our members join with other churches in our area CROP Walk, raising hunger awareness and funds that go to assist local and international relief efforts. Blankets + is an ecumenical offering that provides blankets and tools for victims of disaster and refugees seeking to rebuild their lives and plant crops.

One Great Hour of Sharing: Funds assistance for victims of disasters, hunger, and self-development;

Peacemaking Offering: Funds programs that promote peace and reconciliation and healing;

Christmas Joy Offering; Funds supplemental income and medical needs of retired clergy, missionaries and church workers
