Presbyterian Women
- Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to:
- To nurture our faith through prayer and Bible Study;
- To support the mission of the Church worldwide;
- To work for justice and peace;
- And to build and inclusive caring community of women that strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) as we witness to the promises of God.
Presbyterian Women meet monthly as a large group (usually at the church mid-day). We meet as smaller groups known as circles gathering either in the homes of our members or at church for times of prayer, fellowship and Bible Study.
Presbyterian Women invite and welcome all women of faith to participate with us. For more information please call the church office. To learn about Presbyterian Women visit our denominational website Presbyterian Women
Horizons is a monthly publication of Presbyterian Women with information about what Presbyterian Women are doing across the denomination.
Starting the third Friday of the month in September, the Presbyterian Women’s Circle “Naomi” will be switching over to a daytime meeting from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm in the church parlor.
We will be studying with the author (Margaret Aymer) of our new Bible Study “Confessing the Beatitudes” via a DVD.
There will be a time for study, prayer, the lighting of the Christ Candle and other symbols that go along with each lesson and tackling some questions, learning some Greek words and writing a confession after each lesson.
If you are interested in joining the circle, please see or call Lori or just come! “All Women are Welcomed”
Presbyterian Women of Brick 2011 Mission Causes
In 2011 Presbyterian Women are supporting three mission causes through the “Birthday Offering.”
The first is Across in Jonglei, South Sudan, which was founded in 1972. This organization works to improve the lives of the Sudanese people by strengthening communities and promoting education. The funds given in support of this ministry will fund a four-pronged approach to education:
- Producing 2,500 books;
- Sponsoring an English language coarse for at least five women;
- Provide teacher training workshops for at least 40 teachers; and
- Build a dormitory at Yei Teacher Training College that will house at least 60 women.
This project will also help build a culture of peaceful coexistence between traditionally waring ethnic groups, increase societal value of children (especially girls) and acceptance of women as leaders.

The second project is the Menaul School in Alburquerque, New Mexico, which has for more than a 100 years has educated and equipped students for leadership in the church and larger society. The campus welcomes a racially and economically diverse student body, offering day school for grades 6-12 and boarding school for grades 9-12. Financial limitations necessitated the closing of the boarding program in 2000, but with a grant from the birthday offering, menaul will reestablish its residential program. For more information on the school visit www.menaulschool.com
The third mission supported by the Birthday offering in 2011 is Anderson Interfaith Ministries, Inc. (http://www.aimcharity.org/) an interfaith organization that provides assistance to people in need while also guiding them to function independently. One of Anderson’s most innovative and successful programs, Women and Children succeeding (WACS), offers various supports to parents so they can return to school.
A grant from the Birthday offering will allow Anderson Interfaith Ministries to strengthen WACS. Funds will provide for;
- Modifying and renovating two WACS facilities, centralizing staff and adding training capacity;
- Adding a parental education component;
- Purchasing land for much-needed parking; and
- Hiring an asset-building coordinator, who will help clients with financial literacy.
Presbyterian Women at Brick have also supported local causes like Providence House, a shelter for victims of domestic violence; Harbor House, a shelter for displaced teens; and the Food Bank of Ocean County.
